GIF Crop reads each frame of an animated GIF, applies the same crop region to every frame, and re-encodes the result as a smaller GIF — all locally in your browser. Up to 20 files can be queued for batch processing.
Drag the rectangle on the preview to set the crop area, or type pixel values into the X / Y / Width / Height inputs. Lock an aspect ratio if the destination expects a fixed shape, or pick a quick preset to centre the crop automatically.
The output GIF keeps the original frame timing and loop count. Lower-quality settings produce smaller palettes and tighter file sizes; the size estimate updates after a Preview pass so you can gauge savings before exporting.
Files stay on your device. Maximum file size is 100 MB per GIF and 20 files per batch. For comparison, see the GIF Compressor for size-only optimisation, or Crop Video for trimming MP4/WebM input.
Need to compress instead of crop? Use the GIF Compressor. Looking for stills only? Try the Image Converter for static frame extraction.
What problem does GIF Crop solve?
It removes unwanted edges, focuses on subjects, and re-frames animated GIFs without ever uploading them to a server. Useful for trimming video stickers, reusing screen recordings, and tightening up reaction GIFs before sharing.
Who should use this tool?
Marketers prepping campaign GIFs, developers building product demos, content creators reusing source loops, and anyone needing pixel-perfect cropping on multiple GIFs at once.
When should I lock the aspect ratio?
When the destination has a strict canvas — square avatars, 16:9 hero spots, 9:16 stories. Free aspect is best for simple trimming where the original ratio still works.
Where are my files processed?
Entirely inside your browser tab. The decoder uses the browser ImageDecoder API and the encoder runs locally via gifenc. Nothing is uploaded.
Why does the output sometimes look slightly different?
GIF re-encoding requires palette quantisation. The tool keeps a 256-colour palette per frame, so most artwork looks identical, but very subtle gradients can show banding.
How can I crop dozens of GIFs in one pass?
Drop up to 20 files into the upload zone, set your crop region using the first GIF, and hit Crop All GIFs. Toggle Maintain aspect ratio to apply the same proportions across every file.
