Lay out a print-ready PDF

Imposer rearranges the pages of an input PDF onto larger sheets so they can be printed, folded, and bound. Pick a layout, choose a paper size, set margins and gutters, then export a new PDF that prints in the right order. The PDF is processed locally with pdf.js and pdf-lib; nothing is uploaded.

1. Source PDF

• Drop zone. Drag a PDF onto the dashed area, click to browse, or paste a copied PDF file. The page count appears once it is parsed.
• Blank mode. When no PDF is loaded, the tool generates blank pages so you can rehearse a layout. Switching back to a loaded PDF uses the real pages.
• Inferred paper size. The tool measures the first page and offers an "Infer from PDF" entry in the paper-size selector when you want the output sheet to match the source.

2. Layout configuration

• Layout. Saddle-stitch, perfect-bind, step-and-repeat, four-up booklet, gang-run, and custom n-up. The combobox shows a one-line use case for each.
• Paper size and orientation. Pick a standard size, infer from the PDF, or enter a custom width and height. Two-up booklet layouts auto-suggest landscape so two source pages fit side by side.
• Margins and gutter. Margin is the empty band around the sheet edge; gutter is the space between adjacent slots, used to keep ink off folds or trim lines.
• Creep. A small per-sheet inward offset for booklets that compensates for outer pages drifting away from the spine when sheets are folded together.
• Scaling. Fit shrinks pages to fit, Fill scales to cover (may crop), Actual size keeps source dimensions and centres them.
• Crop marks. Adds short trim lines at the outer page corners for cutting after print.
• Blank handling. Auto inserts blank slots where the page count does not divide evenly into a signature; Leave empty leaves the slot truly empty.
• Duplex flip. For booklet layouts, sets whether the printer expects long-edge or short-edge flipping during double-sided printing.
• n-up and custom grid. Gang-run takes a single N value (2/4/6/8/9). Custom n-up takes explicit rows and columns.

3. Preview, export, and print guide

• Sheet stack. Cycles through the imposed sheets with the previous and next buttons. The flip control toggles front and back of duplex layouts.
• Download Imposed PDF. Generates the new PDF in the configured paper size, with the chosen pages, gutters, scaling, and crop marks.
• Print Guide. Expands a step-by-step list for manual duplex printers, telling you which PDF pages to print first and which paper edge to flip on between passes.
