Image Clipper looks at the alpha channel of a PNG and crops away every fully transparent row and column around the artwork. The result is the smallest rectangle that still contains every visible pixel, exported as a new PNG. It is the kind of clean-up step icon designers, sticker creators, and game asset artists do constantly, automated in a few seconds.
Other formats are rejected because they do not carry the alpha channel needed for trimming.
The Download button saves the clipped PNG with the original filename plus a -clipped suffix. If no trim was needed the original file itself is offered for download, unchanged.
Image Clipper trims based on the alpha channel. JPG and most other common formats do not have transparency, so there is nothing for the tool to detect. PNGs from design tools, screenshot crops, or AI generators with transparent backgrounds work best.
Every edge of the image already has at least one fully opaque pixel, so there is nothing safe to trim. The original file is shown as the result and can be downloaded as-is.
Yes. Any pixel with alpha greater than zero is treated as visible content, including soft drop shadows and anti-aliased outlines. Only fully transparent rows and columns are removed.
No. The PNG is decoded into a canvas, scanned, and re-encoded inside your browser. The download is generated from a local Blob URL.
